Unique accommodations. Memorable dining options. Engaging activities all day long (and straight into the evening). See for yourself why Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel is one of the best places to travel solo.

Morning

Start your Mackinac Island itinerary with a cup of fresh-brewed coffee from Grand Coffee & Provisions. Then, find a rocking chair on the front porch and take in the fresh air and view of the sunrise from the porch’s east end. Head inside to the Main Dining Room for breakfast, where you can enjoy a variety of options including our house-made granola to our delicious Strawberry Cheesecake Brioche French Toast.

After breakfast, head out to the west end of the front porch for a History Lecture from Hotel Historian, Bob Tagatz. Learn about the history of Grand Hotel and Mackinac Island from a “Historic Hotels of America Historian of the Year”.

Afternoon

Hungry after the morning’s adventures? Enjoy lunch at The Gate House, located just down the street from Grand Hotel. People-watch from the patio or take in a game on one of The Gate House’s many TVs.

Enjoy a leisurely afternoon at the hotel. Stroll through Grand Hotel’s gardens, where you’ll find century-old lilacs, wide cedar, and maple trees, as well as over 150 varieties of flowers. Treat yourself to a luxurious facial or massage at Astor’s Salon & Spa. Or peruse Grand Hotel’s shops, including Grand Hotel & Co., Fine Jewelry, Mackinac Market, and Margaret’s Garden.

Experience traditional Afternoon Tea in the parlor, accompanied by the delicate sounds of Grand hotel’s harpist. Sip on your choice of tea, champagne, brandy or sherry, and enjoy finger sandwiches and sweets to compliment your beverage of choice.

Evening

Make your way to the Main Dining Room for a dinner experience unlike any other. After being seated, take a look at our award-winning wine list. Grand Hotel’s Master Sommelier will assist you in picking out the finest wine to pair with your entrée selection.

Relax after dinner in the parlor where you’ll be served after-dinner demitasse. Then walk to the west end of the front porch where you’ll see the sun setting over the Straits of Mackinac. After the sun sets and the stars come out, head to the Terrace Room where you’ll enjoy the exceptional talents of the Grand Hotel Orchestra. Dance the night away to jazzy tunes from another era or enjoy a nightcap by candlelight.
