Grand Hotel Facts

Ownership

From 1933 through 2019, the Musser family preserved the history and tradition of Grand Hotel, thoughtfully improving the grand experience of every guest for over 85 years. In October 2019, a new chapter began for Grand Hotel as Pivot Hotels & Resorts, the luxury division of Davidson Hotels & Resorts took over the management for owner KSL Capital Partners.

Location

Grand Hotel is located on Michigan’s historic Mackinac Island, overlooking the Straits of Mackinac and the Mackinac Bridge between Michigan’s upper and lower peninsulas. Located high on a bluff, the hotel’s famous 660-foot Front Porch is visible when approaching the island by ferry boat or airplane.

Mackinac Island

There is a quaint magic on Mackinac Island. No motorized vehicles are allowed, so the beauty of the island and its historic landmarks remain as they were 200 years ago. Horse and carriage, along with walking and bicycles, are the only modes of transportation on the island. Guests can enjoy the antique and fudge shops in the 19th Century Village and tour Fort Mackinac and other historic sites.

The Season

Celebrating the conclusion of the 135th season, Grand Hotel, the world’s largest summer hotel, is open May 7 to November 1 for the 2021 season.

Stay tuned for updates on the 2022 season.
